The Bourbon Barrel Project on Town Branch was a unique public art event which celebrated not only the history and lore of our beloved bourbon, but also the chronicle of a long-buried stream that was a formative basis of historic Lexington, the Town Branch.
Thousands were intrigued by 41 amazing barrels, stunningly decorated by local artists, that dotted downtown Lexington's cityscape in the fall of 2013. The history of bourbon and the history of Town Branch have been celebrated and our city is all the richer for these artist's inspiring visions of Lexington's past and future. Lexington's newest public art project has drawn to a close, and 44 intriguing and unique barrels, including three deconstructed into individual staves and painted by hundreds of creative Lexingtonians, have found their forever home.
